Putting a New "Spin" on
|
"What Is an Ambigram?" you may ask...It is a typographical design or art form that may be read as one or more words not only in its form as presented, but also from another viewpoint, direction, or orientation. It is also sometimes known as an "inversion." (Definition source Wikipedia.org, circa 2009) This means you can either turn it upside-down or look at it in a mirror or even find hidden letters, depending on the type of inversion, and still read it -- either the same word or phrase or a different word or phrase.
Here at this web site, Ambigram Greetings are greeting cards or other forms of correspondence that intentionally incorporate the use of one or more ambigrams. So far, there are about four dozen different Ambigram Greeting Card designs to choose from, with more on the way, all of which feature ambi-fied expressions on the front and a definition paragraph on the back. There are even some in French, German, and Spanish! The insides are blank so you can add your own personal message. Most of the greeting card designs can also be printed onto bookmarks, iron-on kits, cotton canvas tote bags, or small gift bags. |

Greeting Cards That You Can Read Both WaysRight-side-up or Up-side-down.
Left to Right or Right to Left. Top to Bottom or Bottom to Top. Name Art and Fambi-gramsPersonal names, family names, or even place names can be drawn to look the same right-side-up and up-side-down, or perhaps a mirror reflection of themselves, or even of a different name ... as long as the letter shapes "play nice" together.
"Ok, I get that. But what is a Fambi-gram?" A Fambi-gram is an acrostic ambigram using the letters in your family's names. See more description on my Name Art Page [link not yet active]. |
